Growing Your Dawn Redwood From Seed In 4 Simple Steps
# 1 | Fill a peat pot with high-quality potting soil. Plant at least 20 redwood seeds 1/8 of an inch deep in a peat pot. Plant your redwood seeds shallowly because the seeds need light in order to germinate. Keep in mind the normal germination rate for redwoods is only about 5%.
# 2 | Place the pot in a plastic bag and seal it with a rubber band.
# 3 | Keep your pot moist (not drenched) in a cool area with indirect light, no sun. Seeds must not become dry during the germination period but take care not to over-water.
# 4 | Germination happens in 30-40 days. When the tree is a few inches tall plant the peat pot in a larger container with more potting soil. Don't overwater but keep the tops misted.
