Getting Started With Your Spearmint Plant!
When you receive your spearmint plant it will have some travel stress. Often times the plants will have wilted, and show signs of stress, or even look downright dead when you receive them. We promise this is ok! We grow hardy spearmint plants that can withstand the stress of shipping and bounce back, and flourish with a little TLC! We recommend placing the roots (or black cone if upgraded) into a glass of water for 1-2 hours with some indirect light to help your plant recover. You should notice that the plant begins to bounce back (ever so slightly).
Growing Spearmint Plants In 3 Steps
#1 Plant your spearmint in the spring, or in the fall in frost-free climates, place your new mint plants 18 to 24 inches apart.
#2 Select a damp area in your garden or yard in either full sun or part shade and dig a hole 2 times as deep as your spearmint's roots and 3 times as wide. Spearmint prefers fertile soil with a pH from 6.0 to 7.0 - If you choose not to test your soil, you can simply improve your soil it by adding a few handfuls of Sacred Plant Co's worm casting natural fertilizer.
#3 Water your spearmint thoroughly after planting. Spearmint is strong grower on its own, but your spearmint plant will grow even better when you pair great soil and some high quality worm castings, especially if you plan to harvest a lot! Keep the soil around your spearmint plant moist via regular watering.
