🌿 Mugwort, a classic European tea herb

Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) has been steeped, brewed, and used in the kitchen across Europe and Asia for centuries, and ours is cut and sifted from the aerial parts (leaf and flowering tops) into a tidy 3 to 8 mm cut that measures and steeps evenly. On the palate our tasting library reads squid ink, grass, and honey: a deep, savory, green character with a soft sweet finish that settles beautifully into an evening cup. It is a naturally caffeine-free herbal infusion, a favorite of home tea blenders, and equally at home in a sachet or a warm herbal bath.

Our mugwort is regeneratively grown in the USA and hand harvested at peak aroma, then dried at low temperature to protect its volatile oils and natural color before we cut and sift it. That careful handling is what carries the fragrance from the field into your jar. It is a favorite for tea brewers and a natural fit for our loose leaf tea collection. Every lot we ship receives the same per-lot laboratory testing and the same 100% money back guarantee as everything we carry.

🌿 From the Sacred Plant Co Farm. Sacred Plant Co is a soil first farm. Our own farm in Colorado earned a groundbreaking Haney Soil Health Score of 25.4, a number that surpasses the soil biology measured in pristine forest land. That score is the heart of who we are. We believe healthier soil grows more complex, more potent plants, and that philosophy is the reason we hold every herb we carry to the same per-lot laboratory testing standard.

Radical transparency is the other half of who we are. Every lot of our Mugwort is laboratory tested before release, screened for microbial contaminants, heavy metals, and identity and foreign matter. We publish the lab test results for every lot on our Mugwort lab record, so you can verify the exact bag you receive. Backed by our 100% money-back guarantee. You can also read more in our journal.

    ❓ Frequently asked questions

How do I brew a cup of your mugwort tea?

We use 1 to 2 teaspoons of cut and sifted mugwort per 8 oz (240 mL) of just boiled water, then steep for 5 to 10 minutes and strain. For a smoother, rounder cup we like to blend it with a little lemon balm or mint. Every lot is cut and sifted for even measuring and a clean, consistent infusion.

What does your mugwort taste like?

Our tasting library notes squid ink, grass, and honey: a deep, savory, green character with a soft sweet finish that sits beautifully in an evening blend. It is aromatic and herbaceous, and it pairs naturally with lemon, mint, or other gentle bedtime herbs.

Is your mugwort safe to use during pregnancy?

We ask that you avoid mugwort during pregnancy and while breastfeeding, since it has a long traditional association with stimulating the uterus. If you have a ragweed or Asteraceae allergy, or you take medications or manage a health condition, please check with a qualified practitioner before use.
