The quick and convenient step by step guide to growing your own Sea Buckthorn from seeds!
Sea Buckthorn (Hippophae Rhamnoides) is a cold-hardy shrub native to the northern hemisphere. It is a perennial and is hardy in zones 3-8. It prefers well-draining, light, sandy soil with a pH of 6 to 6.7, although it will grow in soils with a pH of 5.5 to 8.3. Sea buckthorn seeds are a 50/50 mixture of male and female seeds. To ensure pollination, you need at least one male plant for every six female plants on your property. The plants will produce berries in 3-4 years, and this is when you can differentiate between the male and female plants; the females produce the berries.

How to Grow Sea Buckthorn Seeds!
# 1 You will need to grow the plants or start the seeds in a sunny location, as it cannot tolerate shade at any stage of growth.
# 2 | To increase germination success before sowing, you can soak the seeds in water for up to 48 hours.
# 3 | Press the seeds into sterilized soil, but leave them partially exposed. The seeds require exposure to light to stimulate germination.
#4 | Keep soil moist but not soggy until the seeds have germinated and have at least two sets of leaves. Transplant the seedlings outside in spring or summer. Seeds can be started outside in the spring to early summer and fall.
