Growing Your Silverberry Trees From Seed In 5 Simple Steps
# 1 | Fill a clear plastic zip-top bag about midway with sand. Pour water over the sand and mix together until all the sand is damp.
# 2 | Soak your silverberry seeds in water for 24 hours.
# 3 | Place the seeds inside the sand and place the bag into a refrigerator, near the back (or somewhere, where it won't be disturbed.) Keep the bag in the refrigerator for 60-90 days. Check to ensure the sand stays moist.
# 4 | Fill a planter or seedling tray with sand or peat moss and add enough water to make the growing medium damp. Plant the stratified seeds in the planter or seedling tray in the spring after the danger of frost has passed. Place each seed as deep as its length and pat the medium over each seed.
# 5 | Place the planter in a warm spot away from direct sunlight. Keep the medium moist, but not wet. Most seeds will germinate in one to two months. Transplant seedlings to their more permanent home after at least 4 sets of leaves appear.
